Sacred Flame
Unfortunately, the producers of Sacred Flame
have decided to postpone the show until late in 2010.
Marti is concerned that many fans have already bought
tickets/made travel arrangements etc and he doesn't want to let anyone down.
Therefore, he wanted to make sure this his fans know about this.
This is the press release -
"The producers have made the decision that in order to
deliver a truly first class version of the creative vision of the show more time
is needed in pre-production. The show is a massive technical undertaking as it
pushes the boundaries of traditional musical theatre into an arena spectacle.
Large scale video technology combining with rock n' roll scale lighting and
pyrotechnics, and a dance company of more than 60 performers mean it will not be
possible to meet the strict timeline for the Arena. We are working closely with
the O2 Arena to announce new dates in 2010 as soon as possible."
I believe that the O2 will be giving full refunds.
I know that many people will be disappointed but it will be
better to see this show in all it's glory than see it when it is less than 100%
ready. Then it would be criticised and seen as a failure. We don't want that.
Everyone knows that Marti gives 110% to everything that he does and it's only
right that any show that he goes into is up to his very high standards. We all
want this to be a big success for him and a show that's not ready just won't do!

A NEW
MUSICAL: SACRED FLAME TO LIGHT UP THE O2
From the composer of Lord of the Dance, Ronan
Hardiman
Directed by Arlene Phillips
Starring Marti Pellow
LONDON, Wednesday 23rd September:
Peppermint Pictures is proud to announce the premier of Sacred Flame, a
brand new dance-driven musical at The O2 on 28th December 2009. The
arena musical has been masterminded by Ronan Hardiman, the composer of
Lord of the Dance, Feet of Flames and Celtic Tiger, Arlene Phillips,
responsible for the shows Grease, We Will Rock You and Starlight Express, and
Frank Musker, the Ivor Novello winning songwriter who has written hits for
artists including Queen, Il Divo, Russell Watson and Hayley Westenra.
The show will also star Marti Pellow of Wet
Wet Wet, now one of the most successful leading men in musical theatre.
The production is set in modern day South America
and is laden with infectious Latin rhythms including the salsa, mambo and tango.
The story focuses on the coming of age tale of Anton, a teenage boy journeying
to Peru to understand why he came to be given away as a baby by his real mother.
He quickly becomes involved in a far greater adventure to discover the legendary
riches hidden away centuries before by his true ancestors.
Arlene Phillips, Director, comments: ‘I am over the
moon to be directing this exciting new project. Sacred Flame is certainly the
biggest show in scale that I have ever worked on. Keeping an audience of 15,000
people captivated is a great challenge but I know this production is going to do
just that.’
Marti Pellow, added: ‘I am used to playing venues
the size of The O2 with the band, but this will certainly be taking musical
theatre to a whole new level. This show will be breaking the mould of
traditional West End shows and I know it will be enormous fun to work on.’
The show will be designed by Mark Fisher, creator
of Pink Floyd’s The Wall and a host of Rolling Stones and U2 concerts, as well
as Ben Hur LIVE the latest epic to be seen at The O2. It is produced by Austin
Shaw, producer of the feature film version of The Phantom of the Opera.
