Marti at Ronnie Scott's
Jazz Club

In February '07 Marti played
three nights at the world famous Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, London. There were
two shows each night, each one starting with the excellent Ronnie Scott's All
Stars and some amazing piano playing by a young Russian - Eldar.
When Marti took to the stage
at "Bonnie Scot's" he had a fantastic group of musicians backing him -
Jim Watson - piano
Antony Kerr - vibraphone
John Parricelli - guitar
Jeremy Brown - bass
Chris Dagley - drums
Hugh Wilkinson - percussion
Marti's fans will remember Jim
from the 2006 tour when he impressed everyone. However, at Ronnie's he really
did show what an amazing pianist he is!
The set list was as follows -
In A Sentimental Mood
A Child Is Born
You Don't Know What Love Is
You Must Believe In Spring
I Got You Under My Skin
Summer Wind
Lonely Girl
Take A Letter Miss Jones
Where Or When
Lady With The Mandolin
Tell Me All About It
When The World Was Young
Lady With The Mandolin is a new
song that was written by Marti and Chris Difford. It fitted very well in the set
list alongside jazz classics, proving the quality of the song writing
partnership that Marti has with Chris!
Although this was a new arena
for Marti, he performed brilliantly and was very much at home with this genre.
It was clear that he thoroughly enjoyed himself as did the audience. Marti
talked about each song in turn, telling of when he'd first heard it or why he'd
chosen to sing it. Once again he proved his versatility by giving a performance
that was second to none!
